A Key Idea

As I was cleaning and reorganizing my room for the first day of school I ran across my key cup.
Here's a little background. A dear friend and previous classroom aide of mine witnessed on a regular basis my "loss of key moments".  I think she got tired of hearing me say to my kiddos, "Has anyone seen my keys? Help me find them." and made me this cute little ol' key cup.  I am not a lanyard wearing teacher, so this cup has come to my rescue ever since she gave it to me. Yippee, no more lost keys for me, only if I remember to put them in the cup!  Sidenote:  My worst "lost key" episode was when I laid my keys on the table in the staff room and a substitute teacher accidently picked them up and kept them in a pocket thinking they were his!  All day long I was searching everywhere for my keys and asking everyone if they spotted them. I even dug in the staff trash can.  I thank my lucky stars that  I asked the above mentioned sub on his way out for the day about my keys. He pulled them out of his pocket in surprise, and then proceeded to show me his own keys from his backpack that looked almost EXACTLY like mine.  So a word of caution to all of you this school year, watch out for key stealing subs. HA HA!

  2. I have so done this tons of times!! My worst was when I took an hour to run down the hall to my daughters Kind. graduation. My whole family came to watch and I put my keys in diaper bag to hold the video camera. It was over and I went back down to my classroom to finish the day. My hubby packed up our two little sons and went home 35 min. away. Yep, the end of the day came and I was looking everywhere!! My father n law drove all the way back and I felt like a dolt. I've been stuck there at night and called co-workers asking if they had seen them. I hate keys! :) Maybe I need a cup.

  3. I love it! I need a key cup for my badge! Sometimes in the morning getting ready for recess duty I can't find my badge to get back in the locked doors!! Hope you don't lose yours (too many times) this year!

  4. I refuse to wear them around my neck, which yes, means they get lost frequently. But, last year I put a hook right by the door and it worked like a charm for me. It's high so the kids can't reach it and I had less (not perfect!) lost key episodes! LOL! I love your cup!

  5. I am soooo glad to know that I am not the only one who is always losing my keys! :-) One time last year, I had about given up. The custodian had climbed into the dumpster to look through the garbage bags, I had looked everywhere. Then I ended up finding them inside my paper cabinet, when I have no memory of putting them in there. Ahhh, too much on a teacher's mind! :-)
