Patricia Polacco is one of my favorite authors to use in the classroom.
She is such an engaging storyteller. My class was riveted to this author study video today.
I plan to now have my students practice sharing a family story of their own with this assignment:

I love Patricia Polacco!!! I might just go to the school library after school tomorrow and just sit and read some of her books. Just for me! Thanks for sharing the video.

First Grade Found Me
Patricia Polacco is my favorite children's author! It is hard to pick a favorite book but I guess I would say "The Keeping Quilt." I use a lot of her books including "Thunder Cake" as mentor texts for making connections and writing personal narratives. Thanks for sharing the video.

Still Teaching After All These Years
Thank you so much for sharing this activity. I love so many of her books, but I think "Thunder Cake" would be my favorite. I am having an author study of Patricia Polacco this November. This activity will be a perfect tie in to the holidays and discussing the student's families.
