So my Dollar Tree shopping spree landed me with these Jumbo fly swatters.
My first thought was that these were some overkill fly swatters for a tiny fly.
But I'm not using them to kill flies.
I'm using them for my Swat It team games.
More games to come too! I'm working on one for place value as well as Sight Word sets. So go grab your Jumbo Swatters!
Display the concept cards on your board, split into teams, and call off questions.
Teams have a swatting good time to hit the answers first!
I'm having a giveaway for these games
1 winner will win all 8 games I've made so far
7 winners will get to choose 1 game of their choice
Our favorite family game is cards. We make up games and play them. My grandchildren love these type types of games. It makes them think of the rules and different ways to play others games that we have played.
ReplyDeleteI like to play I Have, Who Has with my class. Totally shows the good listeners! (I always love it when the child next to someone says, "That's YOUR card!")

Fourth Grade Flipper
I am glad I found this! It reminded me of some of the cool word activities my mentor teacher had - swatting was one of them. Kids get so into speed/competitive things like this... it would be really neat to adapt to math and math facts!

My class likes to play Swat games too, but I don't have any fancy versions made up...we've mostly used it for basic math facts. We also like to play I Have, Who Has games. We play review games with a buzzer and bells divided into teams to answer questions about content just learned.

I just learned about "Swat it" games this year. My students enjoyed it. I only did it 2x with our spelling words. I think it would be a great Exit Activity using your packets for the objective we learned that day:)
ReplyDeleteI love "swat it" games. Now I'm a big Monopoly fan...funny how no one else in my family is. :) But I'm also huge on spades, rummy, poker, and other card games. Hope to use the multiplication "swat it" with my fourth graders this year. Anything to make them WANT to know their math facts. :)
