Valentine Apple Craft | February Valentine’s Day Activity

Your class will show love and friendship during the month of February through this hands on Valentine’s Day Activity. It makes a sweet, and simple decoration of love to display.

A Turkey head and heart feathers will be decorated and hot glued or taped to wooden skewers with the help of an adult. On each “heart” feather students will write about what “Love is…”. The finished craftivity product is an adorable Apple turkey which can be a table centerpiece or decoration for celebrating  Valentine’s Day.

Valentine Lessons and Activities in the Classroom

Here's what my class did to celebrate Valentine's Day!

We read about Lincoln and learned that he used his top hat to store important papers. So our Valentine holders were Lincoln themed hats.

Candy hearts were used to have a stacking challenge and interpret data by making bar and pictographs.

Make a super cute Valentine craft to show what you LOVE.

What kind of Valentine classroom fun did you have?

Fun Valentine Lessons and Activities

Valentine's celebrations are over in my class.
We have a 4 day weekend for Presidents Day so my students got their sugar fixes today.

I'm sharing some snapshots of our fun filled day.

We started off with a team building activity. Each team got mixed up heart puzzle pieces and the goal of each 4 member team was to make a heart with four different colors. When all the hearts were mended and each team member had 4 colors, then each student glued their puzzle down.

My treat for my students was giving them a box of candy hearts, but before they could eat them we did all kinds of math. This included probability, fractional parts, bar graphing and pictographs of the heart colors and determining the area and perimeter of the box.

We made adorable Love is Valentine crafts for a table decoration.

It was a day of sweet success!

Learning about Abraham Lincoln with a Valentine’s Day Twist

I topped off today by combining Valentine's Day with Lincoln history.

I read this book that gives background on how Lincoln used to keep important notes inside his top hat.

Also of interest is a short video clip from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois

We then made our Valentine holders Lincoln top hat style

Friendship Facts and Opinions

My class did "Fabulous Friends" sharing on Valentine's Day.
After interviewing a classmate, facts and opinions were formed.
Then presentations were made to debut each fabulous friend.
It was a hit!

Valentine Go Together Writing

Pair up classmates for this Valentine Go Together poem.
I love the simplicity of this poem to reflect wonderful friendships!
Brainstorm "Go Together" words like:

salt and pepper
paper and pencil
pancakes and syrup
thunder and lightning
sugar and spice
Frog and Toad
Officer Buckle and Gloria
popcorn and butter

And so on...Here's a sample:

Grab it and enjoy...
But remember that comments and being a blog follower "Go Together"!
